For many years, pet owners faced a dilemma when they had to be away from home.  Limited care options were available.  We were turning to family, friends, neighbors or a professional boarder. But these solutions were seldom ideal.
 
A new alternative, pet sitting, has changed all that. Today, pet sitters or professional pet caregivers look after your dog or dogs at home while your away. Pet sitting has taken the anxiety out of leaving your pooch behind, which is why it is one the nation’s fastest growing industries.

Pet ownership in the United States is continually on the rise.  Currently, 63 percent of all American households have pets and the US population includes 73 million dogs.  These dogs are happiest when they’re home, surrounded by familiar sights, smells and sounds.

Pet Sitting offers both you and your pet many benefits.  Your dog experiences less stress at home, their diet and exercise routines are uninterrupted, travel trauma for both owner and pet are eliminated, exposure to illnesses is minimized, untrained and unwilling friends, family neighbors need not be called and in home pet care provides added peace of mind. He’ll have access to all his favorite toys and bedding. Plus, he may get some extra attention and treats from on of his favorite humans.  

But just because someone calls themself a pet sitter doesn’t mean she or he is qualified to do the job. 

 
When you hire a Professional Pet Sitter:

• We belong to a professional pet sitting organization such as Pet Sitters International or the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters. Canine To Five is a member of Pet Sitters International (PSI)  Members of groups like these have met basic handling standards set by the organization.
• We have references. Confident pet sitters will happily provide you a list of satisfied clients.  Call the references and ask if they would hire this pet sitter again.
• We provide written proof that we have commercial liability insurance (to cover accidents and negligence) and bonded (to protect against theft by a pet sitter or her/his employees)
• Have experience/certified in Pet First Aid.  If your dog has an emergency we should be able to provide or obtain emergency care and treatment.
